Some of you may have heard about it, But I have recently scored this little pocket rocket!

Its an ep91 Starlet with a front mount kit, pod filter etc

Someone has given it the candy apple treatment including a flame job hahhaha

Chromies for the homies on it as well.

The reason I brought it, the car was cheap as chips, and it was previously owned by the crew from MCM (Mighty car mods) since they owned it the car has had over 80,000 views on you tube!

We are here working on the car over the next few weeks to showcase what we do as a workshop, and to show how easily a car can be fixed up..

So if you havn't already seen the video here is the story behind the car :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL11Etw7ZSg

The main reason for purchasing it is a marketing opportunity (shameless I know)

But also for us to showcase what we can do as a workshop etc

We put the car up on the hoist and found a whole host of problems!

Here is the original list!

Muffler - (holes and leaking)
Intercooler mounting (held in by cable ties and a homemade bracket)
Shocks (were completely stuffed)
Oil all over rear of motor
High idle - still to solve, (needs a new throttle idle up controller I think)
BOV not opening properly
Brakes are all useless
Pod Filter (was just flapping about in the wind)
Vibrations (entire car was like a kiddies rattle)
Wheels and Tyres - Hideous and nasty nasty tyres.
Rear Wheel bearings (unplanned but they fell to bits when the brakes came off)

Here is out little video of the meet up:

The first job on our list was to fix the exhaust, we wanted to free it up a bit so it would run better as well..

We went for a 2 1/4 inch fully mandrel bent system, Running a nice long resonator and a rear muffler with twin tips. The system starts at the cat, as these cars have the car built into the dump pipe.

Huge thanks to Tony from Lynchbuilt for getting involved with the project, let me tell you his workshop is the most awesome toy shop if you are into cars! They have everything you could ever need for building race cars :)

This is the old muffler...

Image
Toyota never really had performance in mind when they first created this!!

Image
The Dump pipe bolts were a bit old and we had to use the cold chisel to remove one of them.

The old system

Cleaning up the pipe before welding

Measuring bends

Image
Shaping the end of the pipe to match the joint.

Image
Fitting the muffler hooks

Image
Making the muffler fit without fouling the body was a pain in the ass..

Image
Almost complete

Image
Final result is a far tidier and much better sounding system!

Image
This is how the intercooler was mounted.. well it wasn't mounted should I say?

Image
In the top there was one little bolt that held the cooler in place (barely)

We had to shorten some of the piping as it was fouling the body of the car creating a LOT of vibration.

Here is a quick video of the work we did for the day!!

I think we can all agree that those chrome rims were horrible! I lent stevo my regamaster's from my corolla (still in progress so not needed)

While the regamasters were beautiful wheels, IMO the car cheapened the wheels so I found this set that suit the car and are much more modern etc.

So we have been getting a bit of hate on the flames...

Here is the challenge for you photoshop guys. come up with a new theme to suit Stevo. You cannot remove the flames as they are painted into the body work so you will have to cover them. We have a signwriter who is keen to do a job on Stevo.. Will run this for a few weeks and see if we can come up with a winner.
