here's a couple of pics of my new top mount setup , I have made the new manifold with external wastegate , 3" dump , 3" exhaust to rear muffler with oval section under rear engine mount/ inner CV , 3" inlet pipe to turbo , and today I have just finished fitting a turbosmart E-Boost so tuning time tomorrow night
I also fitted a 24mm front swaybar which I discovered at the street sprint I entered last weekend made my car handle like shit , still , if I'd got it going more than 11 hours before the event I could have played around with springs etc to get it handling how I want it .

I have more photos so I'll put them up when I get a chance

I'm doing some more upgrades , due mainly to me doing something when I was tired ie drilling a hole in my radiator therefore having to fit this

nice new 60mm thick 3 core radiator
Image

and that lead to fitting this

300x 450x 75 IC with 2.5" inlet/outlet ( I will get better pics )
Image

I decided to do a brake upgrade too

old setup
Image

new setup
Image

new setup without wheel on , disc is 275mm x 25mm thick, 4 pot wilwood caliper
Image

pic of my "high tech plywood brake pads " I may upgrade to real pads ,.......... almost certainly before actual driving is involved

I have been doing more work on the race car after partially running the big ends due to oil surge .
here is the baffled sump
Image
Image

and the lightened gear change , the holes in the plastic body saved bugger all weight
Image

While the motors apart I got a shot of the clearance needed in the block to clear the forged rods
Image

and this is whats going in the block (with the correct clearance this time ) , I love the warning on the box.
Image

I will get some more pics as I rebuild the car .

Here is the dyno sheet , the lower reading is the old one . The torque is differerent due to the new diff ratio as well as the new setup making more

Here is the moded rear mount and the addaptor for the exit of the turbo compressor to the new 2 1/2" turbo to IC pipe

After running a bearing the day before megameet I am doing another engine rebuild which has involved crack testing and checking for straightness of the crank , and when it was OK a full regrind . Then one rod had to be resized and the bores needed a lite hone . I also needed new bearings and a new oil pump .
Then I decided that I needed to make sure that oil surge wouldn't get another motor so I got a Accusump and some ARP head bolts while I was at it . I will also redesign the sump baffles before reassembling the motor.
Image

While the motor was out I decided to tidy up the wiring and after 11 hours work I can barely see the difference

I had an epic fail at manfield a while ago when my temporary attaching of the TB stopped being attached  and this pic shows how I "repaired " it so I could drive home to wellington..... YAY cable ties and race tape
Image
It turns out that 2 M4 cap screws are not enough to keep the adapter plate attached , they were only there while I machined the inlet hole to suit the 60mm TB and then I forgot to weld it on. It was quite exciting to get to the corner with the engine staying at 5000rpm  .
After the cable ties were applied the idle dropped to 1800 odd which at least meant I could drive home.

I am in the process of changing the drive coupling in my BMW , you can see some small differences between the old and new one
Image

You have to remove the exhaust to get to the drive shaft and this section almost crushed me when it came off , it weighs over 30 kg :tdn:
Image

The race motor gets reassembled this weekend hopefully , it was meant to be last weekend but the bearing clearances were up the shit , now after more money being spent, the clearances are now set at 2 thou which is much better .

Motor is back together and back in the car , note the lack of oil lines and cooler ,the MR2 steering reservoir on the right hand side of the pic and the repainted cam cover
Image

and the new 4 gauge mount and big low (20psi)oil pressure light are done , the gauges are like this so I can see them on the incar vid after the event cause I never look during
Image

and the MR2 power steering pump is in and working .
Now just a few little things to sort and running in the motor and I can give drag racing a go this weekend

I have done some more work on the car , I have now got 500ish km on the rebuilt motor , I didn't make it to the drags sadly but the car is looking good for a street sprint next weekend and a hillclimb the weekend after

Here is the finished center panel that has the on/off and assistance adjustment for the electric power steering , if you look closely you can see the Accusump open/close handle and the accusump itself behind the gear change , on the passengers side of the tunnel .
Image

Here are the carbon-fiber mirrors I have fitted , each one saves 1kg and should be more aerodynamic .
Image

Finally I made this plaque in memory of a mate who was killed in a car crash a few years ago , I sure hope the heat doesn't make it fall off

Here's a better look at the Accusump installation , I have now done a sprint with it in place and it's awesome , the oil pressure stayed at 60-70 psi the whole time , this was at the same sprint that killed the motor previously .
Image

I also got a pic of the battery install while the passenger seat is out

Heres the incar from the Wallaceville rd hillclimb I did on sunday , I got 3rd overall , got beaten by a RX7 batmobile with a lexus v8 in it and a early 5 series BMW also with a lexus v8 in it , so toyota power 1st three places
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ4b5x7jn-4

And here is the Port Road street sprint the weekend before , using worn semi slicks made for no traction , I ended up turning to low boost(7 psi) half way though the run.
I got 2nd in class and 10th overall , was a 4WD day for sure

I have just competed in the motorsport new zealand clubsport nationals on the 5th and 6th .
I got 2nd overall in the hillclimb , I lead right up to the last round when a guy in a Evo powered 4WD mirage piped me by 0.29 of a second , still I made him use his high boost setting (450hp atw) to do it :)
I am doing 105km/hr at the 1st corner and at the braking point on the straight am just hitting 150km/hr , not bad for in the wet

This is my fastest run
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyrYSfOSQE0

I got 9th overall , that's down to the inability to turn tightly in the motokarna, really must finish the hydraulic hand brake :tear:
